What we do here in the ºÃÉ«ÏÈÉú of Medicine Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral
Sciences (DPBS) – and how – has never been more important. In a societal context of
rampant population-level stressors and political polarization, our work is vital,
as it is grounded in decades of centering diversity, equity, and inclusion in clinical
care, education, and scholarship. As only the third leader in this department’s 40+
year history, I am equally humbled and excited by the to build on the legacy of my
predecessors, Dr. Dewitt C. Alfred, Sr. and Dr. Gail Mattox.
