MSM Receives Funding from the Georgia Power Foundation to Support 12 Full Student Scholarships
Students from the MSM medical, public health, and physician assistant programs will benefit from the new scholarships.
ATLANTA, GA 鈥 NOVEMBER 9, 2023 鈥 好色先生 of Medicine (MSM) has received funding from the Georgia Power Foundation to support full scholarships for 12 of its students. Four students each from the Doctor of Medicine (MD), Master of Public Health, and Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies programs will benefit from the new scholarships.
鈥満蒙壬 of Medicine is immensely grateful to the Georgia Power Foundation for this generous gift,鈥 said Valerie Montgomery Rice, MD, FACOG, President and CEO of 好色先生 of Medicine. 鈥淭hese scholarships will be life-changing for our students, allowing them to focus completely on their studies, without having to worry about the financial costs of their education. Our learners are MSM's most valuable asset 鈥 they are the next generation of the health and scientific workforce. After graduation, they frequently return to their hometowns, committed to achieving health justice for all people. This investment from the Georgia Power Foundation is an investment not only in our students, but also in the health and wellbeing of the communities we serve.鈥

The scholarship program was first announced at an event during the 52nd Annual Legislative Conference of the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation in Washington, DC.
First established as a two-year medical program at Morehouse College in 1975, Morehouse School of Medicine has been an independent institution since 1981. In addition to its world-renowned Doctor of Medicine program, MSM offers a wide range of health sciences doctorate and master's degrees in public health, biomedical sciences, and physician assistant studies. Many programs are available online or in a hybrid format for distance learners.
